Crafty Girls ~ Wooden Name Plate 5

by Shelley

What girl doesn’t like her name? OK, there are some. I admit, for years wanted to change my name to “Trish” LOL Thankfully, I have settled into the name Shelley and it is now a comfortable fit. This time for Crafty Girls, we are working on a Wooden Name Plate!

You can use this craft to display your name, a scripture reference, or a character trait you want to concentrate on.

  • Wooden slats or plates.  You can easily find a pack of these in your local craft or discount store.
  • 6 to 8 inches of ribbon for hanging plus any you want to use for decoration.
  • Tacky glue
  • Alphabet stickers (scrapbook section of craft store)
  • Embellishments:  buttons, ribbon, scrapbook cut outs, stickers, small flowers, etc.
  • Acrylic paints (optional)

Step 1a:  Lightly trace your name to determine the layout of your name plate.  Consider your layout before pasting.

Step 1b:  If you decide to paint your wooden slat before decorating it then be sure to allow it time to completely try before moving on.

Step 2:  Apply your letter stickers.  You may paint if you wish. Once your name is secured apply embellishments as you desire.

Step 3:  Once your name plate is complete glue each end of your ribbon to the back of your plate as shown below.  You may find it easier to apply the ribbon first.  Just make sure the ribbon completely dries before continuing on or hanging it.

Hi Shelly,
I really do “like” our name. Thanks for visiting us and I am glad you liked Richele’s craft for this week! The Shelly and McFarland are weird coincidences…right?
